Fun Day - July
As usual lots of families turned up for a day of varied activities. They were confronted by a sea-scape in the church entranse which set the scene. The theme was the 'Seaside' and people of all ages were able to make sea mobiles, fantasy fish, flappy octopuses etc. Some enterprising youngsters made large boats from packing cases etc.  Lunch was free as usual.

We have fundays on  a regular basis. The next one is at October half-term Monday 24th.

Communion by the Lake

We celebrated communion at Lackford Lake and followed it by breakfast al fresco. The atmosphere at this annual event is very special. This year the rain came but sheltering was easy.

Harvest and Back to Church Sunday

There were several new faces at Whiting Street URC on Sunday 25th September. People were invited to come as part of Back to Church Sunday and to join our Harvest celebration.
Revd. Mary Playford led the service assisted by Matthew Prevett, who is training for the ministry.

Faith Discussion Group

Ten of us met to answer two questions: 'What is your relationship with God?' and 'What has Jesus done for you?' As always the discussion was open and frank with people saying what was really in their hearts rather than what might be expected of them. Whilst no one confessed to hearing a voice or holding a conversation with God in words, most had a meaningful contact with God. Most regarded God as some form of spiritual entity but we could not agree on how personal this entity is. Most agreed that God was a very powerful force in our lives and some expressed a deep relationship which had personally helped them enormously.

For some, Jesus a role model. For others, he, by his teaching, compassion, example and aura, had a profound infuence on their lives, shaping their whole outlook and giving them purpose and drive in creating a better world.
